I'm alive!

Not too much has happened over here while I've been a terrible blogger. We've paid a few visits to Postinho, we went to Jerusa Bar and had great kebabs, had a few BBQ's and were overall pretty lazy other than that. I didn't have too many opportunities to bring a camera along with me.

I did get some great pictures of the cat that lives in the house that I'm staying in. He's a white cat with odd colored eyes, which means he's deaf. Did you know that most white cats with odd eyes are deaf? Well now you do.
I can't help it, he's so darn cute.
He's actually as far as ferocious can be, he's just yawning :)
In other exciting news, Yuri bough a guitar! He's been very dedicated about playing and is sounding great already.

Over the weekend we celebrated Tia Nem's birthday. We had a great churrasco up on the terrace at Tia Sandra and Tio Lucio's.
Tio Patauta and Pedro paired up as usual.
Pedro served Tio Lucio a knuckle sandwich.
Pedro had been sick for a few days, so he got tired pretty quickly.
We rigged the TV and watched soap operas.
Tia Sandra's neighbor with Kachico, Yuri's Grandfather
Mara stopped by before heading out to meet with friends.
Almost the whole gang!
Caio played Uno with the kids.

The moon was HUGE.

The whole gang again.
Yuri dancing with the birthday girl.

Yesterday we had a small churrasco at home with just the cousins and a few friends. Since we were at home I was able to take pictures with my nicer camera and got some really great shots.
Chaninho was the first guest to arrive.
Camila's boyfriend Gustavo was grill master for the day.
The clouds were pretty threatening for a while but they passed over and we got some great sun.
Brazilians. They know how to grill.
Yuri has a fresh new do.
We had some good laughs
Some soccer was played.

I caught Camila dancing...

And Dede goofing around.
It was much nicer with the sun out.
So nice that we had a small Courtney photo shoot.

Gustavo and his beetle.

The ladies chatting
Caio and Yuri having a moment.

Everyone headed home around 8 at night with full bellies and fresh memories. What a Sunday!

Stay tuned for another post to come soon!

The New And Improved Jabaquara

We left for Jabaquara Saturday afternoon. Most of the family was at Yuri's grandparents house already when we arrived. We looked at old pictures, ate awesome food, watched soccer and then headed into the town center to listen to live music. We had a great night!

We slept in this morning and then took a walk around town to snap some pictures of the improvements around town and of the house.

And what about bingo? Every one buys cards for the equivalent of $12, and you can buy as many as you want. Yuri and I each had one. You have to have all 25 spaces marked off, not 5 spaces marked off in a row. There were 3 prizes, 2 motorcycles and a car. They played for the motorcycles first, I was 5 away on the first one and 8 away on the second one. Everyone was pretty cranked up by the time they were going for the car. They start announcing when there are people that are only waiting on one number to win, but they don't say which number, which makes everyone anxious. They called 2 winners for the car. One was a ticket that was not sold, and the other one DIDN'T SHOW UP! They gave it a few minutes and continued calling numbers. I then became one of those few who was waiting on ONE NUMBER! When they called the last number they declared 8 winners. We left after that, but imagine! I almost won a car at a Brazilian bingo game.
